Winter Solstice The Feast of Yule Sunday, December 21st, 2008 7:00 – 10:00pmAll of our traditional holidays have their origin from the days of the ancient ones. The Christians celebrate Christmas as the birth of the Christ child and the promise that light would be restored to the earth. Did you know that the Druids of ancient times and the first Indian nations of America celebrated the birth of the sun on this special day as the promise of new beginnings and the celebration of Yule, the return of the sun restoring light to the darkened lands long before the time of Christ?

The Winter Solstice is a turning point on the great cosmic wheel. It represented a time to reflect on the experiences of the past year. A time to give thanks and gratitude as well as a time to honor even the most difficult times and the most painful lessons that have assisted us in our growth. The Winter Solstice is the true New Year’s Eve, the passing of one year into the next. This date was changed to the 31st of December intentionally to break the foundation of faith of the ancient people and to stop their practice of following the cycles of nature and the honoring of the Earth Mother. With the turning of the cosmic wheel we say goodbye to 2008, which has been a year of awakening, remembering and completing old cycles. We have said goodbye to an old way of being, sometimes losing friends and relationships along the way, only to open the pathway to gain new friends and step into new opportunities. We have joyfully said goodbye to the past as well as shed some tears throughout this year. It has been a year of great lessons to prepare for what we are about to enter into with the turning of the wheel to the energies of 2009, The Year of New Beginnings. As we have been asked to give up the lesser during the year we now are prepared to reap the rewards and benefits as we embrace the greater. This will be a very special night as we plant the seeds and place our intentions for all that we desire to create in the coming year. As we prepare for 2009 the Goddess presence is fully empowered and fertile with creative potential to give birth to our dreams and wishes. In the quiet and stillness of the winter months the seeds we plant this night through ritual and celebration will begin to germinate much as a beautiful flower lays dormant for all outside appearances and yet is gaining life with each day that passes until the Spring when it rises. As we move into this new time, souls will be called to Gathering Places to celebrate, to receive vision to remember the ways of the past. Join us tonight to celebrate the beginning of this grand time of new beginnings with ritual, celebration and the Feast of Yule.

During a time when most of us find ourselves stressed and fatigued with the demands of the holiday season, come and join with a wonderful group of individuals and celebrate the true meaning of magic at this time of year. Nurture your body, mind and spirit with an evening of ritual, celebration and a feast for your taste buds.
