September Brings Balance in the Midst of Chaos

banyan tree

To master balance, one must first master imbalance. As September begins, we find ourselves deep within the retrograde season with seven planets dancing with strong influence over our lives. The lineup includes inner planets Mercury and Venus as well as those that are further away, including Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.  With so many retrograding planets it feels as though everything has resulted in personal chaos.  What we experience internally, expresses itself externally as we are all intricately woven into the golden web.  This has been a difficult and challenging month for many.  One of the leading shifts in consciousness and strong emotional triggers we have been moving through is Venus in her 44-day retrograde cycle.  44 in numerology carries the message that there is a beautiful future ahead of you no matter what challenges you face. You have the ability to manifest anything your heart desires if you keep moving towards your dreams from an open heart and a clear mind. Under this influence we are asked as a collective consciousness and individually, to review our relationships with everything and everyone. Profound healing can take place if we surrender into the process, but it has been quite intense and uncomfortable as we are asked to revisit and heal core issues that have defined us.

The Earth Mother

Virgo is an earth sign, so I am focusing this month on our earth walk and our collective ability to shift the cycle of fear, judgment, hate and division we are currently observing into hope and the vision of a kinder, gentler world.   Maui remains deep within my thoughts and dreams, and I have found myself grieving.  At the same time, I have been gifted with teachings from the natural world and a deeper understanding of what is occurring on the sacred blue at this time.  I continue to give myself permission to feel into the emotions as I realize I have committed to being a vessel to allow generations of sadness, loss, deception, greed, and disappointment to move through me.  I find myself uncontrollably bursting into tears when someone says the word Maui, and yet I know the gift is my own personal healing.  I am crying the tears of our earth mother who grieves for children who have fallen asleep and have chosen to separate themselves from the natural world.  I grieve for myself when I see hatred, self-interest and division promoted.  As a faith keeper, my knowing is even stronger that this is part of the journey we have all agreed to experience, and so my practice of creating a bubble that I use to protect from outside influences has only grown stronger.  I encourage you to really work with the gifts of these retrogrades.  The more we clear the memory of the past and reconcile our journey in the present, the more power we have as alchemists to create a new reality.    Let this wondrous journey of discovery continue.

The Apple Goddess

Venus stations direct on September 3, 2023

Venus went retrograde on July 22nd in Leo and will station direct in Leo on September 3rd. Venus is the planet of the personal heart and Leo is the sign of creativity, passion, joy, and light. It is also the sign that leads from the heart. These 44 days of Venus’s retrograde in Leo have been a powerful lesson in opening our hearts wider. The process of opening our hearts may have felt quite intense during this retrograde as we have built walls around our hearts to protect them from the pain we may have experienced in the past.  These walls may have helped us survive at certain points, this Venus retrograde reminded us that the walls that were once built to keep things locked out, like hurt and grief, can morph into fortresses that imprison our hearts and keep our joy and light locked in. As Venus begins to move forward, trust that these blocks are continuing to dissolve so that the light of your heart can shine clearly and brightly.

Jupiter stations retrograde on September 4, 2023

Jupiter stations retrograde in Taurus on September 4th until December 30, 2023. This will be Jupiter’s last retrograde in Taurus for the next 12 years. Taurus has been activated and played a significant role in astrology since 2018 when Uranus first shifted into the sign in 84 years and again in 2021 when the north node shifted into the sign for the first time in 19 years. With Taurus spotlighted, we have been encouraged to slow down, take our time, be present in the moment, and prioritize self-care. With Jupiter going retrograde in this sign, we are being invited to expand more into our own internal sense of timing and letting go of the expectations of others. Jupiter also goes retrograde once a year, and whenever he does, it ushers in a time of potent inner growth. Our inner voice is always communicating with us, but with Jupiter retrograde it raises the volume of our inner voices and it’s up to us to listen.

New Moon in Virgo on September 14, 2023

Virgo is the sign of health, routine, the connection and balance between mind and body, and bringing order to chaos. The tightest aspect this new moon will be making is a trine to Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is the planet of change, revolution, and nonconformity. A trine in astrology represents a gift. This shows that this new moon could amplify inspiration, unexpected opportunities arising, and sudden, out of the blue “aha” moments. On the other hand, Taurus and Virgo are earth signs and earth signs are grounded and stable, so in shadow they can resist or dislike change. With that said, if you have been having difficulties with any change taking place in your life recently, the day of this new moon is a powerful time to set intentions around navigating change with more trust, grace, and ease. It should be noted that Uranus and Virgo also have connections to the mind, so allowing yourself time to ground and be in your body during this new moon is suggested, especially if you feel disoriented or scattered.   A new moon ritual has been posted for our online members.   CLICK HERE

Mercury stations direct on September 15, 2023

Mercury stations direct in Virgo on September 15th. Mercury is the planet of the mind and communication, and Virgo is the sign of organization and order. During this Mercury retrograde, Mercury aligned with the asteroid Pallas Athena, also known as Athena, the Goddess of wisdom. Athena’s gift when she is in Virgo is being able to see beyond the chaos of a situation to the very truth of the matter, which goes hand-in-hand with one of Virgo’s greatest gifts: discernment. With Mercury going direct in Virgo, the new moon occuring in the same sign only one day before, and Athena aligning with Mercury multiple times due to his retrograde, shows that we are being invited to discern truth from illusion, disconnect from chaos and allow ourselves moments of silence and self-reflection, and underscores the importance of trusting our intuition when navigating through any confusion at this time.

September 22, 2023   EQUINOX

The equinox provides a unique time if you are committed to moving forward to access ancient knowledge.   The equinox belongs to all faiths and religions as it brings an awareness of the struggle of our human experience between darkness and light.  As the Masters have shared with us… As Above …So Below reflects that the natural world is continuously providing us with opportunities to gain insight, and wisdom when we honor the old traditions and follow with sacred ceremony the turning of the wheel by acknowledging the turning of the seasons. This is symbolized by the dark half of the year on one side of the spring equinox sun, and the light half of the year on the other.

This pulling back and forth between light and darkness symbolizes the natural cycle of our universe.  It reminds us that equal portions of shadow and light exists within everything.  This provides the knowledge as to why, on our personal journey, we each will move through times of valleys and other times climb to high peaks.  We need both for balance. It reveals the role of darkness and light in creating movement through its struggle and opposition for our own personal growth.  For those in the northern hemisphere, I will be gathering with our tribe in sacred ceremony and celebration on Mount Shasta.  Several traditions of indigenous people believe there is a living rainbow that encompasses the earth.  The green ray that begins in Uluru, Australia (the source of the rainbow serpent birthing all colors of the rainbow).   The green ray follows the whale song lines.  We will be weaving the dream imprinted at the time of the 777 which runs through New Zealand and Maui to Mount Shasta.  We will be working with the sacred waters to send healing to Maui, the banyan tree, and her people.  If you are called to join the rainbow tribe at the root chakra of our beloved earth during this auspicious time and would like to learn more CLICK HERE

In the Southern Hemisphere we celebrate the Spring Equinox or Vernal Equinox.  In the Northern Hemisphere it is the turning of the season as we move into Fall with the Autumn Equinox.  Regardless of where you find yourself, it is one of two nights when there are equal portions of light and dark creating an opportunity to bring into balance our shadow and light, male and female.  Indeed, a time of celebration and honoring the old ways aligning with the natural world to receive the healing energies offered at this special time.  Decisions made at the time of the Equinox will enable you to create a life of balance.  The living energy present at the time of the Equinox embodies a moment of power when two opposing forces come together as one.  Rituals to honor these sacred celebrations of life have been posted.  Click here for (Southern) and (Northern)

Full Moon in Aries on September 29, 2023

This full moon in Aries is a powerful lunation as it connects us to the rare consecutive two new moons in Aries we had at the beginning of the year—March 21st and April 19th. The Aries new moon on March 21st was potent because it landed on the spring equinox and the Aries new moon on April 19th was potent because, not only was it the first solar eclipse of the year, but it was a rare hybrid solar eclipse that only happens once every 8 to 10 years. So, thinking back to what was coming up for you in March and April could illuminate what you are currently experiencing or what this full moon in Aries is spotlighting for you.

Additionally, the north node, or our path of destiny, shifted into Aries on July 12th and July 17th further emphasizing the importance of Aries at this time. Aries is the sign of individuality, courage, boldness, the warrior, speaking our truth, setting healthy boundaries, and standing up for what we believe in. We are currently experiencing consistent and rapid sweeping change as a collective, and it’s these Aries qualities that keep us grounded in who we are and what we believe in during times such as these. With that, the greatest gift of this full moon in Aries helps us to clarify who we are and who we are not.  I will be posting a Full Moon ritual and guided meditation to work with these potent energies in the next week for our members.

As you navigate through September, be gentle with yourself.  Use these gifts from the celestial heavens to guide your journey.  Find your courage and embrace your magnificence.

For those who are called to join our Autumn Equinox celebration on Mount Shasta, we will be weaving the magick of New Zealand and the sacred Rakaia River as water carriers, to the magickal McCloud River, sacred to the Winneman Wintu, the traditional guardians of Mount Shasta, I invite you to join in this celebration of the turning of the wheel.  The Autumn Equinox also known as Mabon occurs when there are equal portions of shadow and light on the planet.  Mount Shasta is the root chakra of our beloved water planet and serves as a protective vessel for transformation and change.
