June is an active month of planetary changes as well as sacred celebrations for the one who follows the earth religion and honors the ancient ways of nature.  This is the mid point of the Year of Self Mastery and offers a time to pause and reflect on the shifts one is currently moving through, as well as the awareness that has come with the first six months of the year.  I wanted to share with you a brief overview of these influences and for those who are members of our online subscription series I have now posted the rituals and meditations that will support you in working with these amazing moments of planetary influence that the ancient ones knew and worked with.

This month I have posted the New Moon, Matariki, Full Moon, Winter Solstice and Summer Solstice celebrations and rituals.   An audio meditation working with the Full Moon energies dedicated to the Goddess Epona will be posted mid month.  It is not too late tojoin our subscription series as the second half of the year holds incredible change and magick.   When one honors the old ways through ritual and celebration one returns the enchantment and magick to their world.  Log in here.

old-moon-new-moon

We begin on June 4th/5th with a super new moon.   On this day there is a Grand Earth Trine with Jupiter, Pluto and Mercury.   Heavy hitters that intensify the New Moon forming a Grand Mutable Square with the Cosmic Cross.  This configuration of planets assures each of us that we will feel inspired to express our hopes and dreams for the highest good of all. Because Saturn and Neptune are in this square, there will be conflict between the idealists and the pragmatic souls. The New Moon brings a sense of unity and new beginnings.

Matariki New Zealand

Matariki –  Celebration of the Seven Sisters – June 6th

In the Southern Hemisphere a very special time approaches with the celebration of Matariki.   Matariki is an important cluster of stars to the Maori and a key navigational beacon for ocean voyagers.  Also known as the Pleiades, the seven sisters are sacred to all indigenous people and earth walkers. On June 6th the Matariki star cluster rises into the skies in the Southern hemisphere and brings the promise of a new beginning. Studying the stars was a way of preserving history, knowledge, culture and maintaining ancient practices of the earth religion. Matariki is a celebration and a coming together of family and friends.  In ancient times it was used as a time to share with each other skills, achievements and history through story telling, song and dance, carving and weaving, ancient ceremonies and passing on of knowledge and history. Matariki is celebrated with the planting of new trees signaling new beginnings. It was seen as a perfect time to honor the land we live on and to remember whakapapa, the ancestral beings that have passed from this world to the next and the legacy they left behind.

GodNeptune

June 13 – Neptune goes retrograde until November 19th

Neptune governs the oceans and can take you on a journey into the mystical realms.  There are no boundaries and no limitations. You are free to create with your mind. Neptune steps up your vibration as we are able to see into higher dimensions  feeling an increase in psychic abilities. We each have an opportunity to explore deeper into our own psyche to discover our dreams.   We are able to look beyond illusion to determine if we are living our truth or living the expectations of someone else. During the retrograde,  the challenge is to move beyond self-doubt and embrace what we deserve into our life. Discernment and patience will guide your way.

June 20 – Full Moon

The June Full Moon is dedicated to the Goddess Epona,  one of the most well known of all the Goddesses within the Celtic Pantheon, worshipped throughout the entire Celtic world in a variety of other, different aspects.  In Wales she was known as  Rhiannon, the Goddess of the Underworld. Epona was believed to have the ability to shape-shift between the form of a woman and that of a white mare. It is when she appeared in the form of a white mare that Epona is believed to have magickal abilities which allow her to carry shaman upon her back so that they are able to travel safely to and  from the spirit world.

Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere

Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.

The Great Mother  gives birth to the archetypal  sun on the Winter Solstice bringing forth a luminescent light from  her dark womb offering it as a gift of life to the world. It is this light that retrieves us from the dark of night, the pitch of winter, as a symbolic recreation of the origination of the universe. The Winter Solstice is an anniversary celebration of creation and a powerful night of reflection.  In the Northern hemispere, the Summer Solstice is the most powerful day of the year for the Sun God. Celebrations begin at sunset the night before and continue through the next day.  In ancient times, the Summer Solstice was a fire-festival of great importance when the burning of balefires ritually strengthened the sun.  I have posted more information on how to work with these special energies gifted at the time of these sacred sabbat celebrations including how to prepare an altar and perform sacred ceremony.
