Native Americans had a reverence for life, respected human dignity, and understood the interconnection of all things. In 1854, Chief Seattle, leader of the Suquamish tribe in the Washington territory, delivered this prophetic speech to the federal government.  I wanted to share a portion of the speech because it is timely, these are words that speak to our soul, words that we must remember.

Our ways are different from your ways. The sight of your cities pains the eyes of the red man. But perhaps it is because the red man is a savage and does not understand.  There is no quiet place in the white man’s cities. No place to hear the unfurling of leaves in spring or the rustle of insects’ wings. But perhaps it is because I am a savage and do not understand. The clatter only seems to insult the ears. And what is there to life if a man cannot hear the lonely cry of the whippoorwill or the arguments of the frogs around a pond at night? I am a red man and do not understand. The Indian prefers the soft sound of the wind darting over the face of a pond, and the smell of the wind itself, cleansed by a midday rain, or scented with the pinon pine.

The air is precious to the red man, for all things share the same breath — the beast, the tree, the man, they all share the same breath. The white man does not seem to notice the air he breathes, Like a man dying for many days, he is numb to the stench.  The wind that gave our grandfather his first breath also receives his last sigh. And the wind must also give our children the spirit of life.   You must teach your children that the ground beneath their feet is the ashes of our grandfathers. So that they will respect the land, tell your children that the earth is rich with the lives of our kin. Teach your children what we have taught our children that the earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. If men spit upon the ground they spit upon themselves.  This we know. The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood, which unites one family, All things are connected.  Man did not weave the web of life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.

There is a place that is so very sacred to me, under the guardianship of two very special souls that I am privileged to call my dear friends.  It is a place where Heaven and Earth come together, a place where we can find solace and nurturing during these times of change that we do not understand.  A place where we can connect to nature and to the Divine Mother Goddess who is expressed in everything we see around us.  A place where we can heal our hurts and quiet our minds of worry and uncertainty.

Friday, September 4th

Those of you who would like to join with us on Friday, we will hike to the old grove forest to perform ceremony on the Day of this special Full Moon at 10:00am.    We will gather at a meeting point and drive to the ancient forest.   The hike is an easy and truly beautiful experience walking respectfully through an untouched forest floor, home to the tree spirits, elves and faeries.  Each of you will receive a message from the Faerie world that will guide your journey.  We will perform ceremony here honoring the Great Standing Tall Ones and you will each have time to spend in the forest in your own quiet meditation.

Evening time we will gather again for our Harvest Full Moon celebration and Gathering of Unity at 7:00pm. We will perform traditional ceremony honoring the Harvest Full Moon, receiving the blessings that are available this night and making our collective focus and intention for global unity and peace.  We will perform several rituals honoring many different traditions, Native American, Celtic, and Balinese.  This will be followed by the Harvest Full Moon Feast.     Total cost for the evening celebration including the feast of the Harvest is $85.00.  If you participate in the full day’s events the costs is $115.00.

Saturday, September 5th – $200.00 includes lunch and dinner

From the beginning our ancestors have sought visions and messages from Great Spirit. In the beginning, the Creator communicated with us through our interaction with nature. All of nature is connected at an unseen level. The animals, plants, and rocks all had lessons to teach us and messages to share. The messages helped us survive and provided us with direction, protection, compassion, and healing.  The animal’s message is the nature of the animal itself. Animals constantly teach us how to behave and what we should do to succeed in our physical world.   They bring us hope and messages of warnings.  Animals that you are most often drawn to, or fear the most have something to teach you. Many times animals enter your life to help you overcome difficult transitions.

When a particular animal appears in your life you can determine what the underlying message is.   Each animal has certain medicine powers to teach and knowledge to share. Each animal has its own method of overcoming the many challenges it has met in order to survive.  We have always had an alliance with the animal clan. If your connection is weak or has been ignored in the past, it is time to renew your ancient connection with our oldest teacher, the animals.  On this sacred land we will see what animals encounter us and receive individual messages for our personal journeys.  You will learn to sit still and enter the veil to see what animals come to you in the dream state.  Amongst the hundreds of trees and plants that grace this land live the faery folk.  When one approaches with respect they absolutely love to join and share.  You will feel your heart open and the joy that they bring as we spend sometime communicating with the world that lies just beyond our sight.

Many of you have known the Dark Lady in other incarnations and her presence is felt strongly in the remembrance of White Buffalo Woman.

Tonight we will feast once again as we watch the sun give way to the moon and I will share the ancient lore that will help you remember the old traditions.
