Courage is the New Beauty

Beauty is not measured by our outward appearance.  A Victoria Secret or GQ model has nothing on the person who has the courage to step forward and be all they were meant to be.  Courage is the new beauty and after the recent Total Lunar Eclipse it has illuminated in each of us where we need to gather our hidden strength and talents to step forward.  The eclipse did not give us a perfect map and there is no cosmic GPS system where we will be given directions unless we listen to our heart.   The only way we can hear our heart is when we find our still point and listen to our inner knowing.

The energies of the eclipse were so  strong for me that I felt exhausted for three days.  I am one who usually has incredible energy and stamina but this did me in.   My nights were filled with vivid and disturbing dreams.  I had  discomfort in my body as jolts of energy moved through me and I could not find a comfortable position as I tried to sleep.  I realized my body was merely adjusting to what was said to be the greatest infusion of light we have received thus far.

The day of the eclipse I was blessed to have a girlfriend with me and we climbed to Heart Lake to experience a moment of sheer beauty and stillness.  Not overly strenuous, but certainly not a simple walk as the path leads directly upwards until you find yourself near the top of the mountain in an Alpine forest where the perfect heart shaped lake exists.

This was the playground of the whales and the dolphins when our world looked entirely different.  If one listens you can actually here their song.  In the moment of sitting near the waters edge, that mystical place where the world of human and that of the unseen come together, my heart spoke.   I again heard the words that Grandmother Wisdom Tree had shared with me at the time of the Winter Solstice.   “It is enough to just be present”.  I remember what a weight had been lifted off my shoulders when I heard those words.

When we first sat down, the lake was still, crystal clear as I could see to the bottom.   Slowly a gentle breeze began to blow and the sacred waters began to ripple.  Nature being my greatest teacher continued to bring her messages.

If we enter the still place of the natural world we can hear the ancestors speak on the wind.  The wind spoke of changes and how to prepare.  The water was vibrating with the energies of the Total Lunar Eclipse from earlier that morning.  It felt good to be alive.  At the moment it felt good that I had navigated the trail to the top.  I let all of nature embrace me.

Mount Shasta being the root chakra of the planet allows one to find their inner beauty,  and the COURAGE to be the best of who we agreed to be.  We must remember that We wrote the contract, WE asked for the life lessons and the opportunity to grow, WE agreed to the karmic residue we wanted to master.  We were excited, WE immersed our starlight into a beautiful body temple called human….. and WE arrived.  Then WE forgot.

This series of four Total Lunar eclipses, which will culminate with the fourth and final eclipse in late September are waking us up to remember.

Bald Eagle soaring against distant mountain backdrop

The next morning after the eclipse  we were greeted with a the beautiful Bald Eagle.  A magnificent creature of vision and wisdom soaring above us reminding us that we earthbound humans have for time unknown been inspired by the sight of eagles soaring high in the sky.  The eagle is a sacred messenger, carrying our prayers on its wings to the Creator and returning with gifts and visions for the people.  From eagle we learn to look at our life with a  different perspective. We are reminded to take a new view on the challenges we each face.   If we don’t readily find solutions it may be because our vision is too limited to see the solutions that are so glaringly obvious.

Through its connection to air, eagle is connected to intelligence, but more importantly to Spirit, the knowing that goes far beyond intellect.  The eagles home is the freedom of the sky. He spends most of his time fearlessly flying high above, bridging heaven and earth, scanning below carefully.  Eagles beak is connected to his jaw and the strongest part of his body. We are reminded to pay attention to our words and how it affects others.   Words can empower or disempower and can crush someone’s spirit.  We must remember to use our words with caution and kindness.   DO NOT get involved in idle gossip as it is draining of our own energy.

The vision of the great bald eagle, helps us learn to take a step back and view the bigger picture. We need to open our minds and hearts to see past old, restricting beliefs that are holding us back. Eagle teaches us to courageously face our fear of the unknown, so we are then able to fly as high as our heart’s joy can take us.   Our hearts are now illuminated with the Total Lunar Eclipse to bring into consciousness our true story.

Eagle is linked with courage asking us to give up the lesser so we may experience the greater.   NOT EASY….. but necessary. Releasing yourself from comfortable, familiar thought patterns, even when they don’t appear to be working, to fly into a larger world requires that we are brave enough to enter unknown realms.

The very next day it began to snow…. and snow….. and snow.  What a glorious and most welcomed gift from the Goddess.  This  was the first snow to fall into the village the entire year, even though we were now into spring.

The mountain was blessed with a beautiful white layer of white light,  althuogh summer conditions have returned to the mountain today.

I wanted to snow shoe to the sanctuary to honor the lady of the mountain and find my still point in the magnificence of this sacred place.  It is here that I always find my guidance.  When too many voices are speaking and differing opinions are being offered, we become distracted and can not hear our heart.  Only when we return to that still place can we connect again to our knowing and hear the inner voice of our heart speak.    This is what the mountain offers, watch video.

Courage is required of me right now as I fell and broke my left ankle. My ankle now has a plate and 7 screws. I am wheelchair bound for the next 2 months. I was in the midst of working on 3 major projects and now my top priority is getting to the bathroom on time:)
I am thankful that I can repeat your saying of be strong…be brave, etc.
