Planetary Influences

I am sharing early the magick October will bring as I am departing for Europe.  This is a month to  acknowledge that  life is about change. By celebrating the seasons as they change on the cosmic wheel, we celebrate the next chapter of our personal journey.    The CDC has announced the pandemic is over, New Zealand is lifting all restrictions and the borders are opening.  It seems surreal that the world has been under the influence of Covid for two and a  half years.  What a powerful time of reflection, reinvention, and reevaluation of our own personal journey.   Numerous opportunities for forward motion prevent themselves this month, as we begin the process of preparing for the final turning of the wheel that will come on December 21st with the solstice and several retrograding planets now begin their journey forward.

Mercury goes direct on October 2, 2022

Mercury will station direct in Virgo. When Mercury begins his forward journey, he will be tightly opposing Neptune in Pisces. We will only feel the influence of this opposition for a few days, but even though this transit is relatively short, this is still a powerful aspect that represents a push and pull between intellect and intuition, thinking and feeling, the conscious and the unconscious. Mercury, the planet of the mind, and Neptune, the planet of the higher heart are essentially complete opposites. The trick in working with this aspect is to look to the Virgo sign that Mercury is stationing direct in. Virgo is the sign of the body and discernment. It’s also the sign designed to bring order to chaos. Neptune represents transcendence and other worlds. It’s easy to zone out or not pay close attention to the details when Neptune is making a hard aspect to Mercury. However, coming back into your body, grounding, going outside and putting your feet on the Earth, or taking the time to discern where any confusion or uncertainty are stemming from can help to mitigate some of Neptune in Pisces shadow.

Pluto goes direct on October 8, 2022

Pluto will go direct in Capricorn. The tightest aspect Pluto will be making when he goes direct is a trine to Mercury. Mercury stationing direct only 6 days before Pluto does makes this trine especially powerful. A trine is the most harmonious aspect in astrology that represents an ease and flow between planetary energies. Mercury, the planet of the mind and communication, trines Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld and Great Transformer, creates opportunities for honest and deep conversations, information that has been kept in the shadows now emerging, and being able to see, hear, and/or feel the truth in situations especially if the truth was being obscured for one reason or another.

goddess Danu

Full Moon in Aries on October 9th dedicated to Danu and the White Dragon

Aries is the first of the fire signs and healthy Aries energy brings certainty, decisive action, and courage. This full moon will be opposing Venus, the goddess of love, balance, and harmony. Venus opposing the Aries full moon can illuminate areas of our lives that are out balance, where we may make ourselves smaller and dim our light in order to make others feel more comfortable, and silencing what we would really like to say in favor of keeping the peace. This Aries full moon is calling us to tap into our inner fire and inner warrior so that we can set and keep healthy boundaries in order to restore balance in our lives, stand unapologetically in our power, and speak up for ourselves and what we need.  This full moon is dedicated to Danu and the white dragon, bringing an extra surge of energy that gives the drive, initiative and courage to overcome whatever tests and challenges this full moon will illuminate.  Under the guiding light of the Goddess, we each have the potential of letting our sacred warrior support our inner Goddess.  We can make emotional adjustments in response to our new goals. The enchanted, mythical faeries of Irish folklore come from an ancient divine race called the Tuatha Dè Dannan, or “peoples of the Mother Goddess Danu.”  This will be very special on a personal level as my ancestral lineage is from the Tuatha de Dannan, keepers of the Dragon wisdom, and I will be gathering with members of our tribe to perform sacred ceremony on the Isle of Iona this night.  After two years of delays, we are entering a new cycle of life, forever changed so being in these special lands to gather to pray for a kinder and gentler world, healing the broken alliance between the world of human and the unseen will be very heartfelt.  For those who are members of our online subscription series I have posted a full moon ritual and a guided audio meditation.  Click Here

Saturn goes direct on October 22, 2022

Saturn goes direct in Aquarius. Saturn has officially been in Aquarius since December 2020, and this was his last retrograde through this sign before he shifts into Pisces in March 2023. Saturn won’t be in Aquarius again for another 29 years. So as Saturn travels through the last several degrees of Aquarius over the next 4.5 months, we’re being given an opportunity to reflect on how Saturn in Aquarius has helped us grow and evolve in the last 2 years. Saturn in Aquarius has offered us opportunities to see which rules we’ve lived our lives by that are now outdated and either need to be released or rewritten, how the wisdom we’ve gained from past experiences can help us create the future we’d like to live in, and how being our true authentic selves is one of the biggest acts of revolution and liberation.  Take the time to reflect and journal the progress and changes you have made facilitated by this retrograde journey of self-discovery.  Sometimes we just need to take the time to see the inner growth that has taken place as we prepare for a new reality we are creating.

New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse on October 25, 2022

This partial solar eclipse in Scorpio will kick off the final eclipse season of 2022. A partial solar eclipse is when the moon passes in front of the sun and blocks part of the sun’s light. A new moon typically can’t be seen in the sky, however, when a solar eclipse takes place the moon can be seen, thus representing the unseen becoming visible. Scorpio is the sign of deep transformation, power, and what is hidden in shadow. This Scorpio partial solar eclipse can reveal pieces of ourselves that we have discarded, judged, or found unworthy. Scorpio empowers us to claim these parts of ourselves in order to heal and bring ourselves to wholeness. This eclipse will also be intricately tied to Venus and what she represents because Venus will only be minutes away from an exact alignment with the sun and moon at the time of the eclipse. Venus is commonly known as the goddess of love, beauty, and relationships. However, she also represents self-worth, self-love, and priorities. This shows that this particular eclipse is tuned into showing us ways in which we can love ourselves more fully, recognize that the most important person that needs to know your worth is yourself, and reevaluate anything that we prioritize in our lives that drain, exhaust, or deplete us so we can make things like joy, abundance, and sacred rest the priority.  A significantly powerful opportunity to set intentions as we wind down and acknowledge the gifts of 2022 – The Year of Self Love, Self-Care and Self Awareness.  A new moon ritual has been posted click here.

Mars goes retrograde on October 30, 2022

Mars goes retrograde in Gemini. Mars goes retrograde every 2 years, which makes him one of the planets that goes retrograde the least. So, when he does begin his journey into the underworld it’s significant. Mars has been in Gemini since August 20, 2022 and will be in this sign until March 25, 2023. Gemini is the sign of communication, facts, learning, and the mind. Mars is the planet of ambition, drive, and courage and in his shadow, Mars rules anger and aggression. Mars’s energy likes to go fast, however, when he goes retrograde it slows him down. This can represent possible frustration, irritation or anger arising especially if we’re expecting something to move quickly. The key to easing these types of emotions is to know that when Mars goes retrograde it’s calling in a time when things are meant to move a bit slower than they normally do so that we can practice patience, think things through before we act, as well as see the value in slowing down and taking our time. Mars in Gemini will also amplify the communication realm. So, being conscious of our thoughts as well as what we say and how we say it is an important part of this Mars retrograde.

October 31stCelebration of Samhain also known as All Hollow’s Eve in the Northern Hemisphere

Recognized by the ancient Druids as the night to communicate with the Ancestors. It represented the final harvest when the crops were safely stored for the coming Winter. As the veil between the worlds of life and death is thin on this night, we take this time to remember those who have passed into the spiritual realms.  Samhain is a time to complete any unfinished business of the summer.  One of the 8 days of power known as the Sabbat celebrations, and the most magickal of times revered by the ancient ones.  All Hollow’s Eve marks a time when the veil that separates the world of the dead from the world of the living is thought to be thin, allowing for visits from the spirits of our departed ones.  I have posted a sacred ritual for opening the gateway to magick on this night and to honor our loved ones.  For those who are members of our online subscription series please click here

November 1stCelebration of Beltane in the Southern Hemisphere

A Fire Ceremony of Purification

This is the third of three ceremonies performed to invite the Sun’s return. The first began with Imbolc followed by the Spring Equinox also known as Ostara and now Beltane to ensure the power of the sun would be at its fullest at the time of the Summer Solstice when there was the greatest amount of light on the earth. In the ancient times the druids would walk their animals and families between two bon fires symbolizing purification and cleansing.  They would call in the guardian spirits for protection for the rest of the year believing the sacred smoke created a magick layer of protection. Beltane is when the cares and fears of winter are purified giving way to youth, exuberance, innocence, playfulness, and sexuality.  The ancient ones did not just celebrate a holiday at the time of Beltane; it was a cosmic opening for a specific energy.  It is a time known as the “no time” when the veil between worlds is lifted and one of the spirit nights when faeries can be seen.  The first flowers of summer are gathered, and love is in the air.    For those who are members of our online subscription series please click here for the Beltane ritual.
