2009 Year of the Black Jaguar– personal choices, relationships, partnerships, alliances and unions.

The Black JAGUAR represents the duality of life: the forces of light and dark. The sun and the moon. day and night, life and death, death and re-birth, truth and illusion. With its highly reflective eyes it was thought that the JAGUAR had the power of divination and the ability to see into the future. The JAGUAR is revered as a divine figure and the possessor of knowledge. The Toltec’s believed that the yellow JAGUAR was the Sun God who became a Black JAGUAR at night to travel unseen in the spirit world. Eclipses were caused when the JAGUAR swallowed the Sun and the black jaguar could be born into the earth reality when the sun returned. It is said that a Great Being came to the Mayan people from the stars, and taught them that the greatest of all virtues was integrity. He instructed the people in the beauty of unconditional love, forgiveness, and peace and to be honorable and trustworthy. Where the Jaguar found hearts blackened with hatred, greed or dishonesty, he would haunt those unfortunate souls, relentlessly stalking them until they embraced the wisdom of integrity and transformed their lives.

The essential energy for 2009 will be one of personal choices. 2008 is now behind us and such amazing opportunities presented themselves to awaken us. We have all been on quite the emotional roller coaster ride and since the total solar eclipse occurred on August 1, 2008, we have seen the old foundations built on greed, power manipulation, fraud and deception breaking down. This is the greatest time of enlightenment for mankind, but enlightenment means heightened awareness and heightened sensitivity.

This year of choices will require each of us to choose daily how we are spending those precious moments we are each so privileged to be part of, during our time in human form. I personally choose to celebrate life and embrace it fully. I choose to be aware of the changes that I can personally make in my life that came from the awareness we were given in 2008. It is my choice to bring more laughter and happiness into my experience. I choose to co-create with the universe to manifest the journey that will bring me the greatest joy, and I definitely choose to feel good in a young, healthy and vibrant body! I choose to share my experience with those individuals who also choose to join me on a path that is moving forward. I am not going to say that this next year will be without challenge, how boring would that be if we did not have the opportunity to continue to grow and evolve? To become better than we are. However, I will choose to take moments in each day to acknowledge how far I have come and embrace with excitement where I am still going. I will choose to rest when I need to rest, and to search for inner strength when I feel weak.

It is often much easier to remain in old familiar patterns because we know how we feel while experiencing them, familiar is safe. It takes far less effort than is required by those who choose a different way of being and expressing. I however choose to do the work that is required to make these changes and all along the way I will taste the deliciousness of life. I will find reasons to be joyful for they are truly all around us if we choose to look for them. I will not wait until the following year, or next month or even next week when something is presented to me that allows me to experience life in the moment. I will not choose to be fearful and doubtful when I see daily so much to be grateful for. I will choose to not hold back, but to step forward. I will choose to jump off that cliff into the unknown, because in my heart I know I will be supported every step of the way and how will I know if I never try!!! I will choose to be a light and a daily expression of strength and courage for those who will join my path in this year of partnerships and alliances.

Sitting around, feeling lack and fear will certainly not assist you, or this planet. In fact it will simply add to the problem, not the solution. In the Chinese Zodiac we will be moving into the Year of the Ox on January 26th. The ox is a very hard working animal and if we can visualize connecting to our own ox, much will be required to pull us out of this fear based, confused energy that surrounds our planet at this time. It will require an ongoing effort to reestablish our faith. Not a faith in one particular religion, but a faith in our connection to the divine and the need to support one another through these times of great change. It will require us to look beyond ourselves, to a sense of community as a universal and environmentally responsible world.

Wonderful partnerships and alliances will form in all aspects of our life if we choose to open ourselves to these relationships. This will require ending the negative chatter and words of doubt. You will certainly align with the words you speak this year for there is a partnership in all we do, say and feel in 2009. Begin your day by making positive affirmations; begin by telling a new story each day. When you review the events of the day just before you fall asleep, choose the new story that you will begin tomorrow. Each day will bring you surprises and new opportunities if you continue to develop a new relationship with your divine self and those who support your journey. The universe will support the pathway you choose as we move forward into 2009.

Words will be very powerful. We live in a wonderful world full of beautiful celebrations and cultures that all have their beginning in an earth based religion. We must choose to return to these natural ways of expressing God and the Goddess, not judging that anyone or any one way is better than another. Our world is rich in traditions and if we explore what all cultures have to offer it can only enrich our lives. To share just a few with you and the power that comes from the words we choose to speak I have two examples to give that I feel best reflect the energy of 2009. Be mindful when using these sacred and powerful words, speak them from your heart center. Experience their meaning from a place of knowingness and wisdom as the heart is wise and knows all things. Your words will move you through all dimensions, beyond time and space and attract angels, spirit guides and animal protectors to help you along your path. In many ancient traditions the spoken word was considered to be a creative power.

I hold a very special place in my heart for the Native American culture of the First Nation people, who have shared with the world the first teachings of living life in harmony and in a good way. At the end of every prayer the Lakota have a saying…Mi Taku Oyasin (pronounced mee taku o ay sin which means…We are All Related). If we live these words, we will bring our world back into unity. A slow process yes, but nonetheless a powerful opportunity to be part of something grand and marvelous. The Lakota also believe that when man moves away from nature, his heart becomes hard and mankind moves out of balance. These drastic and revolutionary shifts that we are now experiencing are a result of the world rebalancing itself and an opportunity for man to come back into balance with nature and the natural way of being. To remember, that this is a world of abundance and prosperity, not greed and lack. It is our divine right to experience the beauty and magic that life has to offer.

Another culture that offers us wisdom through the spiritual meaning of the words spoken is the Hawaiian culture. The origin of these words, comes from the ancient civilization of Lemuria. The greeting of one person to another, using the word Aloha is an invocation that welcomes the Divine Presence within each of us. Aloha creates a warm and open space for supporting the well being of another and inviting them into your space. In speaking this word you are offering the breath of life. Mahalo, another word spoken openly in the Hawaiian culture is a Divine blessing of gratitude and a thanks giving for ALL that is. Both words acknowledge the Divine Spirit giving Life to All of Life, in all dimensions, beyond space and time.
